The C Programming Language

Before C came B, a programming language that was derived from BCPL and was developed by the same people who established C. Here is Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie seen working on the PDP-11, the target system of the original UNIX operating system. UNIX was rewritten in C in 1972. This book about C was first published in 1978. It served as a manual as well as a tutorial. The code style presented book became later known as K&R C. In 1983, the American National Standards Institute formed a committee that established a standard specification for C. This specification became later known as C89 or C90. >
